SPU has a Junior Design Engineering course in which the team of engineers think of an original design concept, quickly take it through the design and prototype phases, and construct the final prototype in 10 short weeks.
The Junior Design Team consisted of Colt Hawley (ME), Jordan Barde (ME), Andrew Josselyn (ME), and Kellie Cobb (EE).
This project was a water-purifying system using solar irradiation and a mechanical tracking system to move the parabolic dish to track the sun, intended to be low-cost and sent to the country of Angola. This project drew heavily from our Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer knowledge.
